Possibly the Lake District's most Scenic Triathlon
2016 Bassenthwaite Triathlon - 13th August 2016
The 2016 Bassenthwaite Triathlon (Bass Tri) will be the sole collaboration between Tri-Lakeland Triathlon Club and Bassenthwaite Sailing Club. Thanks again to Bassenthwaite Sailing Club for allowing us to use this fantastic venue once again.
It is the aim of Tri-Lakeland and Bassenthwaite Sailing Club to host a friendly, safe and high quality event that welcomes both competitors new to triathlon and those seasoned to competitive triathlon.
For the second year we will be hosting a Short Distance alongside the Standard Distance Triathlon.
The new Short Course Tri will be ideal for those people who have previously competed in pool based events and would like to try an open water short distance race. The event will include a 750m swim, 25km bike ride and a 6km run and the cost is £36.50, including administration fee, with an optional T-Shirt available through the entry website.
The Standard, or Olympic Distance, will yet again provide a challenging course, with one of the most beautiful Lake District backdrops and includes 1500 swim, 40km bike ride and a 10km run and the cost is £41.50, including administration fee, with an optional T-Shirt available again through the entry website.
Bassenthwaite sailing club, on the shoreline of Bassenthwaite Lake, undoubtedly provides the opportunity to experience a triathlon at facilities with one of the finest backdrops in Cumbria and the North West of England.
Bassenthwaite sailing club offers great facilities for family members watching the event and for competitors taking part. The club house is equiped with changing rooms, showers and toilets so add that to refreshments and you have a venue which boasts luxuries not available at many other triathlons. The sailing club is also family and disability friendly with ramp access for buggies or chairs. Dogs are welcome at the venue but not in the club house. With parking on site the sailing club offers some of the best facilities in triathlon.
The bike routes for both the Short and Standard distances and run routes will be on the undulating roads around Bassenthwaite lake. The race will be electronically timed by Base Timings, one of the countries leading triathlon timing companies.
An afternoon start at 1pm will allow ample time for people wanting to travel and prepare for the race. Refreshments will be available from around the start of registration which opens at 10am. Registration will close at 12noon with race briefing at 12:30pm. If you require a British Triathlon Race Day Licence, then these will be available to purchase on the day at registration.
Please note a requirement from the National Park is that there will be 'Bio-Security' measures in place and all competitors will be required to clean their wetsuits before ariving and after the event prior to leaving the venue.
